Multivariate Statistical Monitoring of Power Generation Plants
The use of RPCA and other multivariate statistical process monitoring tools for fault detection, identification, diagnosis and anticipation are the main purpose of this research. Several other tools as intelligent agents, data minning and Fuzzy decision algorithms convey a set of tools for the implementation of heuristic operator knowledge to identify and anticipate process failure.
Intelligent Load Shedding
The main focus is in the implementation of rapid stability calculations, for automatic and intelligent load shedding in power systems. The project addresses also other considerable problems as fast communications and smartgrid architectures for the implementation of these algorithms.
Power Control of Wind Turbines
The project concerns DFIG control stategies for power flow control, voltaje and stability issues to maximise energy delivery of small wind turbines/farms.
Smart Micro-Distributed-Energy Meters for Intelligent Energy Management
The project is focused in the development of smart, micro-distributed energy meters for energy consumptionmanagement at household, building, condo and city level. Main topics addressed are how energy can be measured through micro-circuits as to minimise size in commercial intelligent devices which can communicate and perform distributed control by learning people energy consumption habits and moreover: household consumption objectives, and power distribution company energy availability.
